Hi there.

George W. Bush is in South Africa at the moment.  I would have liked to have gone to protest to show my disagreement with his foreign policy and his policies in general.  Unfortunately he's only stopping over in Pretoria and although there were some protests planned there, I doubt he got to see any of it, security around him being as strict as it is.

More evidence that we better start taking this global warming thing serious.

France will pay for war stance, Powell says
http://www.mg.co.za/Content/l3.asp?a=13&o=19114

This really pisses me off.  I feel like I'm in Kindergarten again, being harrassed by the school bully only this time I can't fight back.  I give my full support to France.  I thought germany held a similar view.  Perhaps they were more diplomatic which might have served them well in terms of relations with the US but I really wish they had taken a harder line because the USA needs to be shown some opposition to get them back in touch with reality.

I mean it wasn't just France who was against the war because from where I was it definitely looked like most of the world was, the only difference being that France was the only country not afraid to speak its mind.  Also, whatever happened to respecting the UN and worldwide consensus?  We really need to restore the UN to its proper place fast or we run the risk of repeating history, cf the League of Nations at the beginning of the 20th Century.  I'm sure I don't need to remind you of the outcome of that debacle.
